Dr. Michael Brown believes Christians have lost the public opinion battle on homosexuality & gender

"Dr. Michael Brown believes Christians have already lost the battle when it comes to public opinion on homosexuality and gender identity issues.
Pro-gay books are being read in elementary school classrooms, teachers are being mandated to use gender neutral language, gay activists have been welcomed in the White House, and young evangelicals see no problem with same-sex marriage."

8. the religious right has lost the culture war overall.
they're just like some guy after WWII in the jungle who never learned his side had lost.

you still have to watch out for ones like that because you don't want to be the a victim of their ignorance before they accept defeat.

the teabaggers are a small part of this nation yet the media promotes them constantly. same with the religious righties like O'Donnell.

we have to continue to speak out against them until the rest of the nation learns that war is over and the fascists lost.

10. Unfortunately, they just move the goalposts, same as they ever have.

When they could no longer screech at Jews, adultery, and divorce, it was pornography and abortion. Then it was gays, video games, and teen sex. The next target is Muslims.

Your analogy is a good one, but unfortunately unlike the 50 year old Japanese guy in the jungle, the right wing is still dangerous.

11. Someone remind me: What did Christ have to say about homosexuality?
After all, these are *CHRISTIANS* we're talking about,
not Liviticussers.

12. There's no power in hate and discrimination to sustain
the human spirit, and what Brown seems to perceive as a "loss" is in fact the advancing of dignity and recognition for all of the citizens of the country, and not just the "chosen" fundies who spend way too much of their days opposing same-sex marriage and other gay rights issues.

As progressives, would we consider a Southern governor from the 50s or 60s moaning that "We have lost the public opinion battle on integration" ? to be anything less than an anachronistic bigot?

I'd like to ask Dr. Brown why a man in his 30s might have been unmarried in the time of the first century. There are many rooms in the Father's mansion, and many boarders and guests there in attendance to a diverse residence.

In JULIAN, Gore Vidal writes that the authoritarian / fundamentalist Christians “would impose one final rigid myth on what we know to be various and strange.”

Brown is smart enough to know Vidal is right, but evidently not brave enough to tell the truth.
