One thing Obama could do to win back some cred on gay civil rights
and win back GLBT votes (including mine) in 2012:

Change his position on marriage equality. Say he's "evolved," say he's "grown in his faith," whatever, just come out in favor of actual equality and untwist this pretzel of a position in which you say you're for equal rights from one side of your mouth and then advocate discrimination out of the other.

Become the first sitting president to support equal marriage.

That would be something. But I'm not holding my breath.

1. that is true. it would be a very nice breakthrough. do you write to
him about it? will you, please?
do you try to raise his consciousness about it? please do. it's true that he simply does not get it.

we should all be actively working to ask him to look. like a great big PFLAG for a president. like we're willing to do for others who are important to us, or to our well-being.

it would be a great next step for the president who has done more for us, already, than any other president in history.

peace and solidarity

3. I would not hold your breath.
I firmly believe that he has always supported marriage equality, but ever since he eyed a presidential run, he won't say it publicly.
He and his advisors believe it is too toxic a position. Unfortunate, but that is the man we are dealing with.

6. I don't want to hear speech, I want to see ACTION
It doesn't matter what the issue is speech is just that, we need action.

11. Obama really can't do much to win back "cred" with me.
I already know he doesn't support equal rights for all people. He's a political coward on this issue.
