Salt Lake Council To Battle Domestic Partner Order
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/09/092505saltLake.htm

An executive order signed by Salt Lake City mayor Rocky Anderson that gives health benefits to the same-sex partners of city employees will be challenged by city council.

Several councilors say that the package discriminates against people in codependent relationships because it only helps gay and lesbian couples. The councilors are preparing their own package which would allow anyone designated by a city worker to name a codependent.

They also accuse Anderson of rushing through his executive order without consulting the council, a charge the mayor refutes. Anderson says that he circulated a copy of the order before he signed it but no member of council replied.

gee, big surprise here

1. Yea Rocky!
But in a city that is run by the ultra-conservative Mormon church, getting something like this through is going to be very difficult..
