Kleefisch apologizes for gay marriage comment (Walker is glad she apologized)
(Because it reflects on him. Not that he doesn't agree with her, he just didn't want her to say it out loud.)

Kleefisch apologizes for gay marriage comment

(Madison, Wisc.) The Republican candidate for Wisconsin lieutenant governor is apologizing for suggesting that extending domestic partner benefits to gay state employees could lead to approving marriage to dogs or furniture.

In a January interview with a Christian radio station, Rebecca Kleefisch (KLAY-’fish) asked “at what point are we going to OK marrying inanimate objects? Can I marry this table, or this, you know, clock? Can we marry dogs?”

Kleefisch issued a Thursday statement apologizing. She says she only meant to express concern with redefining marriage.

Kleefisch won the Republican primary for lieutenant governor Sept. 14, and automatically was paired with GOP gubernatorial nominee Scott Walker.

Spokeswoman Jill Bader says Walker is glad Kleefisch apologized.

1. GOP dehumanizes gays as a matter of policy. This is what they do to make
killing their victims more acceptable. It's the christofascist way. Stoning to follow.

4. If the dog can say "I do" and sign the marriage license -- it's fine by me. (nt)
