"Don't ask, don't tell" probably not happening any time soon
waiting months for that Pentagon review to provide political cover for votes in support of a popular measure that might've already have the votes anyway seems like maybe a bad move, in hindsight.

Maybe Obama ISN'T that good an N-dimensional chess after all.

2. That site said that senators will vote in "coming weeks" on repeal. The republicans
just circulated a letter that says they will stop all legislation. No matter what the Pentagon or the JCS or even the Sec. Defense say, the republicans will filibuster the repeal.

4. I hear you. My brother was bullied, I fought the bully and gave him a concussion. That was the end
of that bullying. I was fighting for someone else.

7. what's THAT supposed to do?
We already KNOW that a majority of people support repeal. I'll stand for the pres when he stands for me.

5. I have an honest question and don't mean any disrespect
What does "serving openly gay" mean in practice? As it relates to The Uniform Code Of Military Conduct?

6. Simply admitting that you're gay...
right now, if someone asked you if you were gay and said yes, you're out. You'd have to lie. Allegedly they aren't supposed to ask...hence, the don't ask part...but that's a farce.

10. People in the military ta]k about what they did on Sat night
just like everybody else. In the case of a gay woman she can't say that she and her girlfriend went to see a movie, because she would lose her job.

serving openly gay means that a trooper or marine can call or email their partner, boy/girlfriend, wife/husband and talk openly about their relationship. A trooper or marine can place their loved ones name on the list to be contacted if they get wounded or killed. They can put up a picture of their family in their hooch without getting kicked out.
The military talks a lot about how important family support from home is for our people overseas. In fact the survey asked "military families" to respond and a very high percentage of family members supported repeal.
Imagine being afraid to call home. Unconscionable.

14. It's Likely Even With Military Support...
Obama will just go on having the DOJ defend it. It could have been left alone had he not gone and had it defended. There will be no support from Obama, so those who think there will can just forget that. Not happening.

17. But..but...but...he promised!
DADT will too be repealed, and then Obama is going to cure cancer, and then he's going to hit the game winning home run, and come to my ballet recital, and buy everyone ice cream. All with bipartisan support.
