MINNESOTA: Tom Emmer Concedes Gov Race, Target's Donation Goes Down Toilet

So much for the huge donation Target made to the campaign of anti-gay bigot Tom Emmer. Via Washington Post:

Republican Tom Emmer has conceded the Minnesota governor's race to former Sen. Mark Dayton (D), bringing a close to the last undecided governor's race of 2010 and finalizing the playing field for the 2011 nationwide redistricting. "Minnesotans have made their choice, by however thin a margin, and we respect that choice," Emmer said. Emmer said he will not press forward with a legal challenge following a recount that left him behind by nearly 9,000 votes. Dayton's win means Republicans will control 29 of the 50 governorships, while Democrats control 20. One seat will be held by an independent, former GOP Sen. Lincoln Chafee in Rhode Island.

5. As a Minnesotan, I thank all who are boycotting Target

I loved shopping at Target, but haven't entered their doors since the contribution. The GOPers took over our legislature, our only hope for Minnesota Sanity was taking the Governor's seat for the first time in 20 years. Thank you all. Unfortunately the GOP legislature is likely to put forward a constitutional amendment to prohibit Gays and Lesbians from marriage. The Dems had blocked this effort for many years. They don't need a Governor's signature to move this amendment for a vote.

NC is the last state in the Southeast not to have an amendment but the legislature can propose it without any action by the governor and the lege here went GOP for the first time since 1898.
