Don't Ask Don't Tell: I'm worried from the lack of reaction in this forum that this is not as good
news as I had hoped.

I thought I would click into DU and see people happy that the House had repealed the ridiculous bill, but I am worried that maybe I am thinking this is more important than it actually was.

Was anything good accomplished today? I had sure hoped so.

1. Too early to tell --
Until the Senate has passed it I will be waiting to celebrate.

5. Same here.
The House is more progressive, usually, than the Senate. The Senate is the tough nut to crack. If the repeal passes the Senate, I will be surprised. I'm not surprised the repeal passed in the House though. Will hold my applause until the show is over and it is repealed in both houses of Congress AND Obama signs it into law.

7. Exactly.
I heard there are 400 bi9lls passed by the House that the Senate hasn't taken up. The Senate is where good bills go to die these days, thanks to GOPers and their Dem allies. :(

2. I think a lot of people are still at work.
Or just getting home from work. Plus there aren't as many people here on this forum as there used to be.

3. The House tends to be more progressive than the Senate.
I'm not surprised at all that the House passed it. Until both houses of Congress pass it (the Senate is the really tough one that it might not pass) and Obama signs it, I am not going to get my hopes up.

8. Nobody trusts the Senate. Repeal was expected in the
House, but the big obstacle is the Senate.

11. Once bitten, twice shy.
I admit, I'm having a hard time getting excited. I can't help feeling like we're getting played, again. I hate being so jaded.:-(

12. I'm with you. The House passage is very good news. We all need
to put pressure on whatever Senators we might be able to influence to get this through the Senate. I'm puzzled by the lack of enthusiasm, to tell you the truth. I'm going to be emailing this evening.
