Obama's 'evolving' views stir gay marriage debate
"Obama, in saying this week that his view of same-sex marriage is evolving, stirred expectations that he may announce a new position in coming months, fundamentally altering the national debate."

"Obama signaled that his position favoring civil unions is not fixed and that he may one day conclude that a committed gay couple should have the same right to marry as anyone"

Hmmm... seems like there is some wind in his sails following DADT vote. I sure hope so.

2. I think his "evolving views" position is a ruse...

I personally believe that Obama supports gay marriage, but he's thinking aloud and arguing with himself as a method to bring voters along with him toward full equality... He knows that debate and salesmanship will not convince people to support gay marriage... People must make up their own mind and draw their own conclusion in a matter like this... I believe he's slowly (but brilliantly) building consensus by evolving along with the population at large. Actually, he's throwing himself out there... Letting voters convince HIM that marriage should be for everyone. Perhaps, he believes this is how everyone will feel best about the result when the law finally changes... Look how much better everyone felt about repeal of DADT was once it unbundled from the Defense Appropriations Bill. It passed on its merit alone.

3. I agree with both of you. I just know I've waited a very long time for the marriage bus to arrive.
