If You're Eating Chick-Fil-A, You're Eating Anti-Gay
Edited on Tue Jan-04-11 11:19 AM by Ian David
If You're Eating Chick-Fil-A, You're Eating Anti-Gay

Jeremy Hooper at Good As You points out that the restaurant chain Chick-fil-A is sponsoring two marriage conferences in the South-Central Pennsylvania region run by the state's most prominent anti-gay, anti-equality group.

Change.org adds:

The Pennsylvania Family Institute has been a leading opponent of marriage equality, and has condemned the expansion of civil rights for same-sex couples. Speaking to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the group's president, Michael Geer, said that gay marriage is not moral, and should be put up for a vote rather than decided by courts or legislatures.

"The only way that we can get the people to decide this issue is through the ballot box," Geer said. "Marriage as defined as between a man and a woman has proven to be the best for the health, education and welfare of children."

And that's a mild statement coming from Geer. As more and more states have moved to legalize same-sex marriage, Geer has stated that unless Pennsylvania adopts a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, it could be forced to accept same-sex couples as equals.

3. Chick-Fil-A had that delicious, suck the grease quality like Red Barn chicken
But, alas, I don't eat chicken any more, so I will never again experience it.

Costco sells these delicious fake chicken tenders by Morningstar that will have to do.

8. Olive Garden? Really? And you're on DU?
I used to like eating there too until I found out the owners are the patron saints of t-baggers. I just couldn't give them any more of my hard-earned cash.

10. So way back in college we were on the road travelling...
When I say "we" I'm referring to our college baseball team. Obviously, the school has to feed us when we're travelling for athletics and Olive Garden was a usual stop. Obviously, there is a limit to what we can order due to budget limitations... usually like ~$10-$15. Coach threw fits when people went over budget (probably came out of his own pocket). Some freshman happened to be travelling with us that particular trip and our center fielder (a senior & captain) sits next to him and tells the fresmen to order the largest steak on the menu medium-rare and then hand it over... and when the coach gets the bill the freshman was to confess to ordering & eating the grossly overpriced meal. LOL...

olive garden... good times :D

15. Olive Garden is owned by Darden Restaurants
They also own the chains Red Lobster, Longhorn Steakhouse and Bahama Breeze.
http://www.darden.com/

Their CEO, Clarence Otis Jr, is most definitely not a T-bagger. He's roughly center-left. Don't know about the rest of their executives.

9. I ate there once, years ago. The food was standard, the restaurant filthy...
... and the sugar packets all had bible verses printed on them.

11. I've refused to eat there forever strictly because
of their phobic, biblebanging ways. Why give money to someone when you know they're just going to take and use it against you? That's just foolishness.

I don't eat at their restaurant, nor Cracker Barrel or Domino's. Why put money in the purses of whackjobs?

12. I've been avoiding Chik-Fil-A for a long time.
I quit going there when I got my driver's license and was able to purchase my own meals. I never did like the way they used Jesus to sell their food. It wasn't difficult to give them up; we have an abundance of fried chicken joints down here.

20. I agree with your post.
Like it's said above, they have sugar packets with bible verses. yikes.

so they don't find that blasphemous to tear the paper open & throw away the bible verses?

It reminds me of going to church around Easter, and the women's groups always having the chocolate/candy bazaar sale to raise money for people with no food and they had chocolate crosses, and everywhere you'd turn someone was biting into a chocolate cross after the service. That is so wrong... I told them my opinion, I'm sure they didn't like it. ha

17. No big surprise there; I've avoided them for years.
Usually if a business is so fundy-controlled that they're closed on Sundays, it's a safe bet that they're anti-gay. Chick-fil-A also promotes itself to high-school-aged homeschool kids as "business education", then works them 40 hours a week. My sister-in-law's older sister was barely able to get into college after falling prey to their line at 16.
