Very funny and very pro-gay episode of The Simpsons last night
The Simpsons aired a hilarious and very gay positive episode last night centered around Smithers helping Moe drum up new business at his bar. The series has a history of being very gay friendly and this episode continues that tradition.

1. I thought it was quite excellent - very funny, but also honest and supportive.
I especially appreciated the tension between Smithers and Moe, and Moe's feelings of wanting to be included.

Good social commentary through good writing.

2. I watched it last night also.
I agree, that was a very excellent episode. One of the better ones that I have seen in a while, in fact.

One of my favorite quotes of the episode, from Bart to Principal Skinner: "So you get a booty call and I get a cootie call."

3. Not my favorite episode.
I realize sterotypes are the essence of a particular variety of ethnic/marginalized group humor.

And often there is at least a grain of truth in them.

But.... these are definitely of that "outside-looking-in" variety. (i.e. straight peoples' shorthand of what gays and gay life are like.)

Great series, The Simpsons. One of the greatest ever, imo. I'll pass on this episode though.

5. My only fault with it is.. A LOT OF gay bars are owned by straights..
... and it's no big deal. The owners are still included as 'a friend of Dorothy'.

I understood the story line.. but the ending about the 'mixed feelings' about Moe being a 'leader' from the crowd was a bit much and I'd have preferred it to have been more inclusive.
