Maria Carrillo teen 'breaks the silence'

This is a story of a very brave young woman who came out to her high school during their MLK assembly.

On a personal note, I've mentioned here before that my husband and I are raising his teen-aged cousin who goes to this school. So far, he and his friends tell us that this girl has received a lot of support and it has been a positive experience for her.

2. K and R And we appear to have a gifted communicator on our hands:
“I want to stand up here and talk about this,” she told an assembly Friday, “because no one ever does.”

Talk about grabbing the attention of the audience.
