Gay Movie Switch Has Mormons Fuming

Copies of a movie aimed at a Mormon audience have been pulled from store shelves after a recording mix-up left buyers watching the gay movie "Adored: Diary of a Porn Star" instead of the "Sons of Provo."

Two Utah families caught the problem after purchasing DVDs at Deseret Book stores, which are owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The families, one in St. George and another in Riverdale, brought the problem to the attention of store clerks. The DVDs were removed from shelves.

something was wrong. I don't rent that many videos, but if memory serves there are a lot of ads at the beginning, and on the videos I've rented, the ads are tailored to the audience for the film. I wonder what the families thought of the ads that ran at the beginning.

The Church has gone under a couple names in it's history, Mormon never being one of them.

(The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the official name).

Moroni is believed to be an angel that visited Joseph Smith and led him to the Gold Plates that he translated - that book is the Book of Mormon. The church has had the nickname mormon from the book of scripture that was delivered by the angel Moroni.

(PS I was born and raised LDS, not a believer now but served a mission etc.)

10. Reminds me of a friend of mine

An otherwise brilliant woman who is one of the best pediatric cardiologists in the nation. She and her partner rented "Wilde," the excellent biopic about Oscar Wilde starring Stephen Fry. So they're watching and my friend keeps making comments that seem obvious, like "Oh, this is in England," and "He sure dresses oddly." Suddenly she sits bolt upright, hits the stop button and says, "now hold on a minute, he wasn't gay, he was married to Gilda Radner!"

Turns out for 45 minutes she had been confusing Oscar Wilde with Gene Wilder. We still give her grief over that.

The state bird of Utah is the California Sea Gull. What, you say? A sea gull, why? Because a long time ago in Utah there was a great swarm of Locusts or Grasshoppers that were destroying the crops. God sent in the gulls to eat the 'hoppers then fly to the Salt Lake and regurgitate them and go back for more.
