SHAME ON YOU! – TX Democratic County Chairman Dan Ramos Says Gays ‘Are Like Termites’ Infiltrating The Democratic Party

Last week, Bexar County, TX, Democratic Party chairman Dan Ramos made local headlines when he lashed out at LGBT groups that were seeking to influence Democratic Party policies. He told the San Antonio Current that gay activists like the Stonewall Democrats were “like termites” that had invaded his party and that the group was like both the Tea Party and the Nazi party because “they’re 90 percent white, blue-eyed, and Anglo“:

In an interview with the Current today, Ramos blamed homosexuals in the party for both undermining his authority and for the poor election results in Bexar County in 2010. “They are all connected to the gay Democratic Party, the so-called Stonewall Democrats. Just like termites they managed to get some of their people in key positions,” he said. <...>

Ramos said he opposes homosexuality on religious grounds and doesn’t believe gay-friendly Democrats like Stonewall reflect the values of Bexar County voters. “I liken them to the Tea Party — the Tea Party and the fucking Nazi Party — because they’re 90 percent white, blue-eyed, and Anglo, and I don’t give a fuck who knows that. Just like the blacks … they’re American, but you can’t get your way just because you’re black.”

The former treasurer of the county party goes on trial next week for embezzling 200 large from the party coffers. Ramos came to the chairmanship in May of 2010 in the Democratic primary when the former party chairwoman who was also implicated in the theft of funds, Carla Vela, went into a runoff for the position of county clerk. Vela lost to Tim Ybarra, due in no small part to opposition (in the form of a $30,000 direct mail campaign) from local party stalwarts including county judge Nelson Wolff, Henry Cisneros, state Senators Leticia Van De Putte and Carlos Uresti, state Rep. Trey Martinez Fisher, and U.S. Rep. Charlie Gonzalez. This group formed a shadow party administration in August of 2010 but let it lapse after the November elections (in which Democrats across Texas were swamped in the Red Tea Tidal Wave).

The lawyer working pro-bono for the BCDP investigating these goings-on (of Vela and the former party treasurer, allegedly invited to do so by Ramos) is former Texas Attorney General Democratic nominee David Van Os. Van Os' wife, Rachel, missed the runoff between Vela and Ybarra for clerk last spring. And round and round it goes.

Ramos is nothing more than a Beck-styled bigot and fool and is making a shitty situation worse. Texas Democrats have roundly denounced him and called for his resignation but he's dug in his heels and started firing back now. Remains to be seen whether he emulates Hosni Mubarak or Moammar Gadhafi (without the bloodshed, of course).
