I have a self hating lesbian friend on facebook
I've known her since elementary school. She came out in high school, and was always very vocal about gay rights, but I recently discovered she's a huge right winger. Yesterday she wrote this on her wall:

"the federal judge who struck down California's gay marriage ban has confirmed he's gay. what is wrong with this picture?"

Pretty sad how subversive the right wing propaganda is.

1. I'm a lesbian
and how any lesbian can vote Republican, since they have made it clear that their agenda is anti-gay and anti-women, is beyond me.

A gay federal judge striking down a ban on gay marriage sounds like sense to me. I could give two shits if he also likes bell peppers and walks in the park, since neither have any impact on his abilities as a judge. Should a heterosexual judge recuse himself if he is ruling on a case involving heterosexuals? I don't think so.

2. Without getting into the issue of the gay marriage ban, but
focusing on the comments of your FB Friend.

It's her opinion, she is entitled to it, we may agree, disagree, think she is looney or think she is spot on, but it's just an opinion. If you find it a problem block the posts or block all her posts, it's pretty simple to do.

"the federal judge who struck down California's gay marriage ban has confirmed he's gay. what is wrong with this picture?"

And MLK was black.

What's her point?

7. I just don't get it...
How people can vote ageist their own self interest. I'm a bisexual, and if and there is NO WAY I'm voting for the GOP. Even the ones for LGBT rights elect leaders that aren't.

8. I've been thinking a lot about this lately, sort of like "What's The Matter With Kansas?" re: GLBT
Edited on Thu Apr-14-11 09:51 AM by closeupready
and I think part of it is, as I stated in another thread, as an openly gay man in my 40's, I find there is a lot of focus on sexual activity among gay people - some people will likely flame me for supporting stereotypes, but whatever. Many of the guys I've dated have been closeted gay and bisexual men who are interested only in sexual activity, and little more. And the drawback to that, from a political perspective, is that you can't really harness their votes to advance equality because once ejaculation happens, they go back into the closet until they get horny again, back to their suburban Republican lives, and who knows if they have wives or girlfriends, I mean, they can lie to them and lie to you, too, you can never really be sure unless you are a PART of their life, and simply having a sexual relationship with someone doesn't make you a PART of their lives.

Anyway, sorry if this is disjointed or whatever, haven't really strung all my thoughts together on this.

Cheers. :hi:
