Log Cabin Republicans president Patrick Guerriero got more than he bargained for when he stepped up to the podium at UNC-Chapel Hill for a National Coming Out Day speech.

Guerriero had just started his address, on the future of sexual politics, when a man rushed up to the stage and lobbed a cream pie at him.

The national spokesperson for gay Republicans swerved and ducked, but still was spattered with lumps of chocolate cream pie. Guerriero later attributed his nimbleness to having played soccer in school.


I thought his nimbleness was due to his playing both sides of so many issues

5. Did y'all hear a CSPAN caller call Peter a Log Cabin Repub this morning?

Is Peter gay? He gets lots of comments from the lady callers about his nice suits and ties.

This mornings guest was a black Republican preacher. This Rev. Peterson (?)offended viewers in general and black people in particular so much with his comments that the only callers who called in to support him were white Republicans. Peter kept cutting off the angry Democratic callers. Finally one caller called him a Log Cabin Republican. Interesting.

Nowadays, "Log Cabin Republican" carries the same connotation as "Uncle Tom" or "Jewish collaborator." How a gay person can support a political organization that insists, with great vehemence, that we be stripped of every civil and human right is beyond my comprehension. I figure, if they are going to be eating and spewing bull <manure>, they certainly should be able to carry it off as a fashion statement.
