GOP gay leader dodges a pie
The head of a national gay Republicans group got "pied" Monday night while giving a speech at UNC-Chapel Hill for National Coming Out Day.
Patrick Guerriero, president of the Log Cabin Republicans, was speaking on the future of sexual politics when a person ran down toward the lectern and hurled a chocolate-laced cream pie at him.

A few minutes later someone pulled a fire alarm, and the building was evacuated. Guerriero finished his speech on the front steps of Carroll Hall.

"I've had a lot of political rhetoric thrown at me, but that was the first pie," he said.

<snip>

"I faked to the left and moved to the right, which is probably something I do in politics sometimes," he said Tuesday.

2. OK, nobody deserves to get a pie thrown at them, but...

you've really got to wonder what's wrong with Log Cabin Republicans. With African Americans and Latinos, Repugs at least pretend to want to be inclusive and toss out platitudes. They've made no secret of their disdain for gays and lesbians!

6. It seems everyone they _do_ endorse ends up turning on them.
They endorsed * the first time around. They endorsed Arnold and he vetoed the equal marriage bill. They endorsed McCain and he plans to support the AZ equal marriage ban constitutional amendment.

7. i onLy knew him as
the mayor of (maLden? methuen? one of the m-towns in mass.).. and in that roLe i was ecstatic that he was an openLy gay poLitician, and didn't even know he was a repubLican.

i found out he was a repubLican when he was named as jane swift's running mate in her extremeLy brief run for eLection as governor (which i found odd, since she's very anti-gay despite her cLaims to the contrary).

i was ready to throw him under the bus then, not because he was a repubLican, but because he was running with 'swiftie', but their run as 'candidates' Lasted about 3 days, before mitt romney persuaded her to back out.

then i didn't care.

then Last year, he caused that stir by demanding that the RNC drop their opposition to gay marriage which caused me to Like the guy again.

in concLusion, i'm confLicted. :P

8. I don't endorse symbolic violence against gays
and the loggers are gay- repug or not- they are fighting for the right issues for gays but from the wrong side. i think.
