The Scissor Sisters
Every heard of this band? They landed themselves onto Britain's top ten list and will now be hitting the streets of America. Born out of the Liberal haven known as the "East Village", this dynamic team will be on Saturday Night Live on December 11th, 2004.

Here is a profile of their group:

Scissor Sisters
revitalizing pop music

PHILADELPHIA - Jake Shears loves his fabulous wardrobe: plume-topped hats, flowing boas, formfitting bodysuits, tops adorned with glitter and fur. There’s only one thing he despises: his new pair of orthopedic sneakers.

“But you know what? If it weren’t for these orthopedic sneakers, I wouldn’t be walking,” the 23-year-old singer/songwriter/prolific pop purveyor said backstage at a recent sold-out show. “My feet are really messed up the shoes on stage.”

The New York-based band’s overtly theatrical live performances (where inflated condoms have been known to fly through the air), sexy lyrics (they want to “take your mama out all night”) and flamboyant stage presence have drawn everyone from traditional pop fans to drag queens to hipsters. They’ve become one of the year’s biggest buzz bands, their self-titled debut album has sold over 1.2 million copies worldwide — mainly in Europe and Britain, where they first became sensations — and they’ve opened for household names like Elton John and U2.

“People use our shows as an excuse to dress up and go wild,” said Matronic, who in 2001 became the group’s fifth element (plus the sole straight and female member; the other four are gay men).

“At the end a show, we’ll have a bunch of freaks on stage with us; it’s just mayhem, very Muppet Show,” Shears said.

5. Best band in years
I got their album almost a year ago and its been a staple for me. (I got the EU promo version).

Saw them in concert here and they were amazing.

Also I believe that there is one straight guy in the group. The article may have it wrong.

'Take Your Mamma Out" is not a sexy song BTW. THe song is about breaking up with your girlfriend and coming out gay to your Mom...

6. It's great new disco music.
I love disco music and some of their songs are undeniably disco. "You're filthy... and gorgeous!" I have a few friends that listen to it all the time. My partner does as well. It gets some club play here.

Scissor Sisters real life tranny tiff

Police were called to the set of the new Scissor Sisters video last week after a fight broke out between a bunch of transvestites.

The band were filming the promo for 'Filthy/Gorgeous' in New York with 100 transvestites and clubbers when the barney started.

The police arrived and calmed things down but fled when they were asked to take part in the video.
