Vatican's tolerance of gay priests moves toward strict oversight

For more than four decades the Roman Catholic Church has followed both the rules and reality concerning gay priests. The Vatican—as far back as 1961—has made it clear they are not wanted. But many seminaries continued to tolerate what one conservative theologian calls a "lavender subculture" that has brought perhaps thousands of gay men to ordination.

Now those parallel worlds are headed for a collision.

The Vatican is putting the finishing touches on a document that strengthens its view that gay orientation and the priesthood are essentially incompatible. But the text—which could be released as early as next month—reportedly will not impose a blanket ban on gay priests. Instead, it may demand years of chastity before entering a seminary and prohibit any public acts deemed to support the sexually active gay community.

that all pedophiles are gay. Maybe when you select out for an exclusively gay subset like priests.

But in society I beleive the majority of pedopiles are heterosexual.
I'll have to look this up again.

3. I would say that is very unlikely but then the RCC lumps

in all the molesters of young men in the adolsecent seminaries and other programs with the homo crowd. So, they'll make the case that they do.

Interesting that they don't touch the lesbians in the nunneries.

Seriously, I went to RCC schools, and the nuns were young and cute- but nothing ever happened, to my knowledge, like the predator priests and little boys.

But, suppressing adult sexuality and re-assigning it to a "marriage" to Jesus is playing with emotional fire.

The benefit of celibacy seems over rated. I don't think celibacy creates pedophiles- I think that people with a propensity towards predation would seek out an adult station in life that would absolve them of adult emotional commitment and closeness.
