Wilma A Drag For Gay Popular Key West Festival
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/10/102005keyWest.htm

Fantasy, met an unpleasant reality on Thursday.

The annual Fantasy Fest is billed as this nonconformist island town's most nonconformist week - a bacchanal celebrating frivolity. It's also the Florida Keys' biggest moneymaker.

But most festival events were postponed because of Hurricane Wilma, which was forecast to strike Florida by Sunday after moving out of the Caribbean Sea. Local businesses may lose millions as some of the 60,000 visitors who typically turn out may stay away.

and the fundies will blame the hurricane on this

1. Yep, they sure will.
Wasn't there also a gay festival planned in N.O. for right after Katrina?

3. Yes
Southern Decadence, held every labor day weekend. The gay bars in the Quarter are back open while many churches on the coast continue to hold outdoor services because their buildings were destroyed. I guess God does work in mysterious ways.

6. It is popular with gays
but Fantasy Fest is very popular with straights too....It's just a huge (usually raunchy) party.

8. Yep
but now they can't get in. I feel sorry for all the businesses here. This is a big blow (no pun intended) for them.
