School Board Firm On Gay Article Ban

A suburban Chicago school board is refusing to reconsider its decision banning an article on tolerance by a gay student in the school newspaper.

Wheaton Warrenville school officials say the matter is closed and will not be reopened.

Stephen Delaney, 17, had submitted a column dealing with his struggle to come out hoping it would help other gay students in the school.

"At some point in everyone’s lifetime, they find that they are somewhere a minority," Delaney wrote. "While diversity is said to be celebrated in America, today’s teens know that real life can be a different story."

5. I'm guessing there's more to it than this

It seems fairly outrageous for a school in a fairly liberal area to ban an article solely because it has gay themes. Methinks the article contains some vulgarity/obscenities beyond "gay" or "homo."

If this is all there is, however, then they truly are scum. I'd just wait for more info.
