State Monitoring 'Lesbian' Student Suit
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/01/010306schoolSuit.htm

The state agency in charge of enforcing California's tough civil rights laws is closely monitoring a lawsuit brought by two teenagers against a school that expelled them in the belief they are lesbians.

The lawsuit, filed in Riverside County Superior Court, seeks the girls' re-enrollment at California Lutheran High School, unspecified damages and an injunction barring the school from excluding gays and lesbians. (story)

California civil rights law protects LGBT students from discrimination, but does not specify whether faith-based schools are exempt.

The outcome of the case could make new law in the state said Paul Ramsey, chief counsel for the state Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
