Right wing makes next move on Ford, refuse additional comment

by PageOneQ

A coalition of over forty organizations led by the American Family Association has written to Ford Chairman Bill Ford asking the motor company's executives to "stop funding either side in the cultural war." Their action was a direct response by Ford management to continue supporting events and advertising in the lesbian and gay community.

In the letter to Ford, released by the American Family Association today, the group's president, Donald Wildmon, claims that unnamed representatives of Ford made verbal commitments to the organization. According to a statement released by the AFA, those agreements were:

1. What bullshit
Nothing more needs to be said.

Ford should do what makes it the most money -- which isn't going along with trailer park trash's demands that it exclude gay people from employment or its customer base.

9. Agreed!
Ford's shareholders should insist that Ford advertise in those venues that make Ford the most money. This is an economic decision - Ford believes gay men and lesbians are a valuable source of profit. End of discussion.

2. The last time I checked
Ford was still the favorite company of the neocons. Just about every car/SUV that still has W '04 oval on it is a Ford.

Looks like Ford will really have to choose from two lucrative customer bases - the neocons and the gays.

And count me out. My Contour is a total POS, and I will never buy Fords again just for that reason.

7. I think it harkens back to the days when
Hitler thought that Henry Ford had some really great things to say about the "Jew problem" . . . the conservatives long for the good ole days when a Saturday night meant running around in sheets stringing up N*ggers who dare look at a white woman . . .

11. "Beverly LaHaye, Founder and Chairman Concerned Women for America"
This has to be the most gender-confused group of people in the country. So she calls herself "chairman?"

12. Ford's public response should be:
"We market our vehicles to every American based on our belief in the quality of our product. In the manufacturing, administration and marketing of our products, Ford Motor Company takes pride in tapping the talents of Americans from every sort of background, including those who represent the GLBT community. We do not view participating in the lives and diverse cultures of our great nation as engaging in a "cultural war" simply because some citizens believe they can only make marketing choices if others are harmed."

10. I suspected this was going to happen. . .
the utter arrogance of these people - there is a "cultural war" simply because THEY declared one? Excuse me - but this is NOT a theocracy, and these people have not been elected the spiritual leaders of our nation.

Every...and I mean...EVERY one of us better be ready to take action about this - we should have finished with Ford and turned our attention squarely on the AFA. I'm sick and tired of playing defense to their constant rantings. They surely have enough dirty laundry to air via every single public outlet possible, and we should have jumped right on that bandwagon. This is an orchestrated effort, and we need every single person to recruit other Americans to counter this. . .perhaps we should have started with a boycott of every company which caves to these outrageous lunatics.
