Book of Daniel Yanked: Nashville Too 'Sensitive' - Activist Alert

The new NBC show, The Book of Daniel has been yanked from the air by the yokels at the local NBC affiliate, Channel 4.

According to the station's General Manager, Elden Hale Jr., the city of Nashville is too sensitive for the show, or Nashville is "a particularly religiously sensitive city."

What Elden means to say is that he's been hearing from some ever-vigilant fundamentalist Christians, who say the show is blasphemous. It's an Abomination cuz there's a gay man and a lesbian on the show.

If you can help us change the idiot minds at Channel 4, their contact info is at the bottom of my rant at the following link. Thanks to all of you who can help. I don't know why these wackos just can't turn the damn channel!

1. their loss.
I do have to admit though, taking all their "sins" & putting it into one show was a bit overboard.

2. I live in Smyrna very close to Nashville.
I watched the first show and thought it was a boring sitcom. I sent wsmv this message after I read the story.

I'm very sad that you would stomp on the throat of free speech to satisfy the fascist "christian" right. We're going to wake up one day in a very scary country because people like you give them power over the media.

3. I sent them a letter when the story came out last week. . .
and pointed out the section in the Tennessee Constitution which spells out religious freedom. I was very pointed about tying their action to the American "Family" Association campaign and accused them of endorsing one particular religious belief and potentially violating their commitment to serve the entire public.

If you are living in that area, the smartest thing to do (after you blast the station with letters about their action) is to file complaints about the station when their license is up for renewal. That means people should moniter the amount of time given to rightwing religious programming, their action in regards to The Book of Daniel, the station manager's excuse for the decision, and evidence that the station has deliberately chosen to ignore representation of members of the community.

In your letter, you should also demand that the station now attach a notice before or after each program they air indicating that it has been pre-approved by the religiously correct American Family Association so that the entire public be made aware of who really controls the use of the broadcast airwaves in Nashville.

Do NOT let this just GO. . .they can be held accountable for being beholden to certain religious beliefs at the expense of others.
