Poll: "Do you think there are too many gays in pop culture?"

The fact that we even have to ask this question in this country is pretty outrageous. 42% think that "entertainment media -- such as movies, television, and books -- include too many gay themes and characters these days." What a country. Why don't we just go ahead and adopt the swastika as our national symbol? Granted, 42% isn't a majority, but it's still way too high.

Let me get this straight: It's okay to invade a nation and cause horrible death and destruction based on an outright LIE, but it's not okay to be gay on TV? Okay, whatever.

At least 50% said it's "about right" or "not enough."

include "that which is popular"??

TV, music, movie, and fashion execs have a habit of trying endlessly to force "trends" upon us, even if they don't really work.

For example, every year I hear we're due for a latin music explosion and it never really seems to happen. Why? Probably because the music industry has an overabundance of Latin music talent, so they try to create demand by telling people that it's the hip thing to listen to.

Trust me - the reality of what is and what is not popular doesn't have as much to do with programming as you'd think, simply because the people running it aren't as smart as you think.

do they mean, too many screaming queens, too many closeted nutjobs, too many completely contrived queers and their galpal sidekicks? Like real life, ordinary gay people living ordinary lives as lawyers, doctors, accountants, analysts, technicians, are too boring to portray on tv, so only the "notable" ones are shown doing "notable" things.
