Lesbian Senator Barbara Mikulski is silent
Just when our community needs people to stand up and defend us, our own are selling us down the river...

Senator Mikulski has no comment at this time...

1. "Lesbian"???
An unmarried woman has to be a lesbian, right?

How offensive.

2. I agree
I don't know who this lady is, and I don't know if she is a lesbian nor do I care for that matter. I do not see what her silence has to do with anything myself.

:kick:

8. How could an unmarried woman not be lesbian?
After all, all single men over 40 are gay, right?

Jebus, you'd think people would start growing up someday.

3. That's a cheap shot. Her sexual preference doesn't enter into her
position on Alito and it's really not productive to debate or dialog about her to post that here. :-(

4. Kerry could be right about Alito,
This could really be a Coup. And because Dem votrs playing"moderate" stick in that "moderate" balance bullshit touted in the election as a good thing, we have a few republicans posing as dems, and dems who are just oblivious because they are surrounded by wingnuts pssing bills to huge to read. Now the other real dems, have to"watch what they say" in case these republicans that poseed as Dems in election season fail to stop the coup and republicans refuse to get out of lockstep..Looks like a coup to me all of a sudden dems are bowing to the king ,putting out statement that reflect thier infection with neocon sickness or they have nothing to say.

5. I was not aware that Barbara Mikulski was a lesbian.
Where does that piece of information come from? Has she ever come out?

7. If she is a lesbian, she has never publicly stated it
The only out lesbian in Congress is Tammy Baldwin (D,WI) in the House.

10. PageOneQ, I take issue with "outing" someone, true or false.
If it's a false allegation, then it could mean a hell of a lawsuit, i.e., defamation of character and other claims. And, if it's a true allegation, it could still mean a hell of a lawsuit. A truth-telling invasion of privacy sucks as well as all the other tag claims that it could wrought. And, I don't believe that folks who "out" should be able to hide behind the "public figure" burden of malicious intent when flinging allegations!

The only instance where it may be considered "justifiable," i.e., morally correct to do so, is when the targeted person is a hypocrite about sexual orientation. That is, is GLBT him/herself but demeans (or worse) GLBTs.

That being said, U.S. Senator Mikulski (D, Maryland) is one hell of a fine legislator:

12. If she's not a lesbian, it's an error not an insult
and certainly not defamation of character. Can I sue people who publically assume that I'm straight?

Having said that, I have no clue as to Sen. Mikuski's orienation and, like others, would have a hard time outing someone who supports us.

The poster obviously pushed some homophobia buttons, though, although I'll refrain from guessing whether it's internal or external. I'd hate to get sued.

11. i'll let ms. mikulski take care of her private matters
herself.

she does not oppress the lgbtqq community -- and so i'll show enough respect not speculate about her private life.
