West Virginia Anti-Gay Amendment Gains Steam
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/02/020306wVaBan.htm

West Virginia lawmakers preparing a bill to put a proposed amendment banning gay marriage before voters say the measure has strong bipartisan support.

Backers of the bill say that the state's law which already prevents same-sex couples from marrying is at the mercy of the courts and only a constitutional amendment would block the law from being overturned.

The proposed amendment would define marriage as between a man and a woman.

The legislation is expected to be introduced in the coming weeks. If, as expected, it passes the measure would be placed on the ballot in November.

2. If I lived in West Virginia these days I think I'd be more concerned
with mine safety than who's sleeping with whom, or who's marrying whom.

3. Dems who are supporting this
are not only bigots, but are short-sighted bigots. Putting this on the November ballot will bring out the wingnuts and boost Capito's chances of keeping her seat.

4. welcome to DU
and you're exactly right-it will pass the house with less than 15 or 20 NO votes

and I'll be amazed if anyone in the senate votes against it
