Battle Lines Drawn For Colorado Anti-Gay Amendment Fight
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/02/021006coloBan.htm

A gay software millionaire, a high-profile evangelical group and others with plenty of political savvy are lining up for a potentially free-spending battle this fall over whether to amend the Colorado constitution to ban gay marriage.

Both sides are still getting organized and have revealed little about their finances. But similar campaigns in 13 other states proved costly two years ago, with both sides spending a total of more than $13 million, according to a review by the nonpartisan Institute of Money in State Politics.

"This is an emotional issue for people. It has the potential for getting for getting pretty hot, pretty heated," said John Straayer, a political science professor at Colorado State University.

A coalition called Coloradans for Marriage hopes to put a measure before voters in November that would limit marriage to one man and one woman. A Colorado statute already bans gay marriage; putting in the constitution would make it more difficult to change.
