Gay Marriage Heads To N.J. Supreme Court
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/02/021206njAdvance.htm

The New Jersey Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Wednesday that gay and lesbian couples hope will lead to same-sex marriage rights in the garden State.

"The time is long overdue for over 16,000 same-sex couples throughout New Jersey to see the end of the discrimination that hurts their families," said David Buckel, Marriage Project Director at Lambda Legal and lead attorney on the case.

The lawsuit was filed in 2002 by seven same-sex couples. (story)

The state's case for maintaining the status quo will be argued by Assistant Attorney General Patrick DeAlmeida.
