I was loading my car at Costco and some pencil necked dude came up and asked me to sign a petition to ban smoking in public places, I declined

he then said "How about one that marriage is between a man and a woman?"

I straightened up, looked him in the eye and said "Certainly not! I am in favor of civil rights for ALL Americans and you should be too!"

I then slammed the hatch of my SUV. He looked at my "DemocraticUnderground.com" and "Proud to be an Arizona Democrat" stickers and slunk away like the idiot he was.

I thought about it on the way back to the store and realized that it was you great people at DU that put that perfect retort in my mind that came out automatically, I didn't even think about it.

17. Now that I'm leaving Florida in a few days (thank goodness)

I'm starting to talk politics like I do at home, taking every opportunity while waiting in the supermarket line, talking to the realtor selling my house, talking to neighbors. I do it gently, trying to draw them out.

People are starting to realize even here that things are getting really bad for folks who work for a living, and they're blaming Stupid and his variety of Repuglican.

Here, in the land of Stupid/Corrupt2004 stickers on muscle trucks driven by gap toothed, snuff juice dribbling halfwits! Wow!

I still hate Florida, but I'm not quite as pessimistic about this state as I once was.
