Why anti-gay marriage crusade failed
Twelve states passed so-called ''same-sex marriage'' bans in 2004. This national campaign of prejudice did not succeed in Florida in 2006. Is this reason to rejoice or is it just a bump in the road for the caravan of intolerance sweeping across the United States?

The proposed amendment failed to receive the 611,000 signatures needed by the Feb. 1 deadline to get on the ballot this year in Florida. But advocates already are attempting to bring the issue back in 2008.

After years of struggle to protect the civil rights and voting rights of every American, it is now in vogue to discriminate against gay and lesbian families via what seems like a national anti-marriage crusade.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart has used satire to illustrate how ridiculous the reactionary tactics against gays and lesbians are through skits like Queer and Present Danger and the Gaying of America. And it's almost funny just how absurd this campaign really is -- almost.

1. I read some where that
in the area of Florida where they had a "traditional marriage amendment" rally, only about 100 hundred showed up. Hint. My husband lives there and also has a GAY daughter. He may not be a Democrat or exactly liberal on many issues, but he sure as hell isn't going to sign an petition that will HARM HIS DAUGHTER.

Another major secret to all gay haters. THEY HAVE PARENTS AND RELATIVES. MAJORITY of us don't want to put them in ReProgramming Centers. We just accept them for who and what they are. Like ALL our children.

2. unfortunately it doesn't mean they will stop.
and as regards equal marriage -- that is very hurtful.

the vast majority of lgbtq people know that they are nothing more than hard working, tax paying, contributing to the civil good individuals.

it's very hard to see this hate coming pouring out.

4. They won't stop
these people are pathological and their illness expresses itself in their fundamentalist crusade.

The big taboo in American politics is that there is something clinically, mentally wrong with fundamentalists and no one is willing to talk about it publicly.

5. They failed the first time!
But there is nothing saying it will fail a second time. I certainly hope it does fail. Just as I hope the FMA will fail, but I realize all too well just how hated we are becoming.
