3. They have this weird idea that everyone feels as bigoted as they

do. I remember when "La Cage Aux Folles" started in NY my father wouldn't see it but after my mother saw it and then dragged him to the theater he LOVED IT. This was in the early 80's I think people were not as open minded then. It really changed his whole perception of the GLBT community.

I don't think you can continue to hate GLBT people if you get to know them. Maybe that is why they boycott all these things; they are afraid they will see real people just like themselves. Too close for comfort maybe.

EDIT: Dyslexia

7. Exactly right on that point.
I can't tell you how many people I have talked to over the course of many phone banks for GLBT issues who say just that. They really like that couple down the street so how could they ever vote to deny them rights. Love it.

8. Well, since I'm an enabler of the gay community, I must put in an
order for that toaster.

9. Good for Ang Lee, his cast & crew, and the spirit of great
screenwriting.

Let the far-right nutcase fundies fume. Let the xenophobes wail and moan. But let millions more see this picture and re-think their biases.

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN is a landmark.

10. It's a good movie
Excellent acting, excellent screenplay, excellent direction, excellent story. Coupled with a excellent marketing campaign that has generated good word of mouth. Why wouldn't it be a hit?
