I just got back from a visit to the website of the Log Cabin Republicans (a morbid curiosity I can only stomach every few months) only to discover that the Human Rights Campaign was a sponsor of the LCR's 2005 National Convention! Gee, how comforting it is to know that monies I have donated to the HRC have gone to LCR. That's the last dime they'll ever see from me!
Isn't there a gay rights PAC that's safe to contribute to anymore?

1. You can specificy how your donations are used at HRC |
|
including not giving to LCR.
Be sure to specify if at a function for HRC, otherwise I would communicate with them in writing.

2. Money is fungible, though. |
|
What is declared off-limits by donors (giving to LCR) can probably be offset from another part of the budget. Not that I have any reason to believe that is necessarily happening, but just saying, that's the nature of money.

3. HRC is a good organization |
|
if we have problems with it, then we need to pick up the phone and talk to someone there and get to the bottom of it.
HRC has an annual tax statement they are required to publish - it should be easy enough to find out exactly how much money they give to HRC in concrete dollars.

4. i might not personally want to have anything to do with |
|
lcr -- but hrc is a good hardworking organization.
i think of them as a go between with certain segments.
hrc does reach out to republicans other than lrc.

But I do not expect that part of their "outreach" as spending donated funds to co-sponsor the LCR Convention. Sorry, but that's the way I feel.
