Ohio state Senator satirizing Republicans and proposed adoption ban
http://www.cleveland.com/weblogs/openers/

He's had it with intolerance

Citing “credible research" showing that children raised by Republican parents are more likely to be intolerant and egotistical, state Sen. Bob Hagan has sent out a request for co-sponsors of a bill to ban registered Republicans from adopting children or acting as foster parents.

Hagan's spoof follows a GOP-drafted bill – which is not a spoof – to ban gays and lesbians from adopting or serving as foster parents.

In a memo to his Senate colleagues, the Youngstown Democrat notes that Republican-raised children tend to be “significantly wealthier than their Democrat-raised counterparts,’’ but contends the same children are “more at risk for developing emotional problems, social stigmas, inflated egos, an alarming lack of tolerance for others they deem different than themselves and an air of overconfidence to mask their insecurities.’’

It appears, however, that the gay adoption ban is dead on arrival. House Speaker Jon Husted, a Dayton-area Republican and an adoptee himself, views the bill as divisive and said he wants lawmakers to focus on more productive matters, such as improving Ohio’s economy...

4. Hagan for President.
Not only is he witty, but this shows he has more backbone than 90% of the Democrats in Washington.

5. Wikipedia says he worked for 15 years as a locomotive engineer for CSX
Wonder how many Republicans have done anything like that.

Bob Hagan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Hagan is an American politician of the Democratic party who holds a seat in the Ohio State Senate. He has been chosen by the Senate Democratic caucus to serve as assistant minority whip in the 126th Ohio General Assembly.

Before entering electoral politics, he worked for 15 years as a locomotive engineer for CSX Transportation.

In 1986, Hagan was elected to a seat in the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 53rd Ohio House district, centered on Youngstown, Ohio. At the time, his father, Robert E. Hagan, was also serving in the House. This period, from 1986 to 1990, was the first time that a father and a son simultaneously held seats in the Ohio House of Representatives. He served in the House for 10 years. Hagan was appointed to the state senate on Feb. 12, 1997, to represent the 33rd district in northeastern Ohio, centered on the city of Alliance, Ohio.

Hagan's brother, Timothy Hagan, served for many years as a county commissioner in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. In 2002, Tim Hagan was the Democratic nominee for the office of Governor of Ohio...

6. Now THIS is the kind of thing that should be followed
by a PETITION drive to the state legislature. . .and believe me, there is plenty of evidence that Republicans and Republican-sympathizers (meaning "religious" wingnuts) are dysfunctional as hell. . .how hard would it be to dig up every Catholic church child sexual abuser, even Baptist yeehaw who has abused his children, all the alcoholics and the closeted gays so much a part of that Party?

I think its past time we countered this nonstop crap designed to strip some Americans of their civil rights by countering with the same thing of our own. . .and making it stick.
