Utah Governor May Veto Gay Club Ban Bill

Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. said that he may veto a bill that could be used to ban gay-straight alliances in schools.

The measure passed the Utah Senate on Thursday. (story) It must still be passed by the House.

Huntsman told the Deseret Morning News that he has reservations about the legislation. The governor also suggested he may veto a bill promoting so-called intelligent design.

"In fairness, with all bills, I wait until they get to our office because in some cases they never make it that far," the governor said. "In many cases, they change so dramatically en route."

1. I didn't vote for this guy because of his business, but...

...I have to say, that he isn't as bad as I thought he would be. He is actually fighting to discontinue the sales tax on food in this state. It is an uphill battle on all fronts though. We still have a 58% approval for B*sh.

3. This is a breath of fresh air

Shutting down GSA's (or preventing them from starting) is one of the worst things ever proposed to harm gays. It should be seen for what it is: an attempt to hurt teenagers ("children" if you will) that are struggling with their sexuality. I can hardly believe that those on the right are willing to make teenagers casualties in this culture war.
