Bush names homo-bigot to AIDS panel (faith based $$, Justice
Sunday host) Rev. Herbert Lusk

http://www.pamspaulding.com/weblog/2006/02/bush-names-homo-bigot-to-aids-panel.html

Holy crap. The Bush admin continues its anti-gay rampage, naming faith-based cash recipient Rev. Herbert Lusk to the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (the official announcement is March 16). This is a heinous appointment. (WashBlade):

In a move yet to be publicly announced, Bush last month named Rev. Herbert Lusk, a former Philadelphia Eagles football star and current pastor of Philadelphia’s Greater Exodus Baptist Church, as one of five new members of the presidential AIDS advisory panel, known as PACHA, according to a current PACHA member.

Lusk is a member of the board of advisers for the Alliance for Marriage, a conservative religious organization that lobbies lawmakers to support a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage.

...Lusk heads a multi-million dollar faith-based social services agency in Philadelphia that he founded called People for People. Lusk told the New York Times the organization receives about $10 million a year in government funds, with at least $1 million a year coming from federal, faith-based grants.

Lusk's church's charitable wing has received a cool million of faith-based bucks as far back as 2002 -- so he's been on Dear Leader's payroll for a while.

Also, Lusk was the host at January's rally to support Alito, Justice Sunday III, which was held at his church

1. Holeee chit...
Isn't there SOMETHING we can do about this sort of thing?
Naming this guy to this organization is like naming a male vet as head of Women's Health.

Whoops. He did that, didn't he.

Godsdamn.

2. It just never stops. If the man was capable of feeling any shame
at all, he would not make the appointments that he does. He has no concern at all about having the right person for the position. Just pure cronyism.

6. In his mind, he did name the right person - someone who is following his
agenda. It's never been about what's right for America (all Americans). It's about who will fill a slot in a way that they are favorable to him.

Negroponte
Bolton
Meirs
Goss
Alito
Roberts
Chertoff

and countless others.

4. Where does Bush get this money?
The House is the money place. Bush acts like the tax payers money is his.And he never seems to spend it on things we can see or use but for wars and crazy Church things. When are the tax payers going to get mad over this? Now Iran? Good God.

9. He goes to the Culture of Corruption leadership - says "I'm gonna propose
all this "faith based" money, once the preachers have it in their grubby little hands, they'll stand up in the pulpit and tell their whole flock that all Dems are evil, want to abort every fetus and turn the rest of them gay - dont' vote for Dems."

Repug Leaders say "hey, great idea, we can remain in power forever - are you sure you're asking for enough money? We can always tell Treasury to print more"

10. Yes I am sure that is what happens but how does he get this money?
I just do not recall other Presidents with their hands in the cookie jar handing out money like this. Who in Congress gives him the go a head on it? We need some reporter looking in to this. God Knows some reporters could make real names for them self if they would get on to things like that. I can see Congress has not got it into their mind that they have over sight. Every body must know that Bush has always spent other peoples money. It is the tax payers money or is Bush selling of the Fed. Parks by now?

12. He puts it in the budget and Congress approves it. The same way
they approve the various tax breaks to 'stimulate our economy'.

14. Well we never heard of it. Do you recall this?
When Clinton got in Congress set aside, I think it was. 40 M. to look into things. They were out to cut cost. C-span also had shows all over the place where they had things on how to cut the budget. This seems so far away from how that group ran Congress. They were the GOP. This handing over the control of every thing to Bush is so un-Am. I find it hard to under strand.

8. i hate this "faith based" shit
and i despise the fact that many of the recipients of these payoffs are virulently anti-gay.

we need an overhaul of this system...let religious organizations and churches pay their "fair share" of taxes.
