A co-worker of mine was gay bashed.

There is this guy at work that is deaf that my best friend hired here at the bank years ago, his boss just told me that over the weekend some worthless sacks of dog shit attacked him with a bat.

Right now he is in a coma at Cedars Sini.

Paul is the nicest guy. Since I can't sign, we always just smile and try to communicate with each other the best we know how.

What makes my blood boil is that these chicken shit mother fuckers attacked him with a fucking bat. Paul is a big buff guy and would have probably kicked their sorry asses.

This happened not far from where Trev Broady was attacked two years ago. I hope they catch these fuckers and hang them by the tiny little balls.

It troubles me even more, for some reason, when this sort of thing occurs in a major city like LA where people should be USED to us. I remember encountering more homophobia and more instances of very brutal bashing when I lived in San Francisco then anywhere else believe it or not..

I don't know Paul that well, but I always make a point to wave at him or shamlessly flirt with him (just in fun). He's a nicest guy and he always goes out of his way to say hi to me. Everyone at work just loves him.

I know that his mom has flown out from NYC. He has a very good friend that has always been his "link" to his boss to call if Paul was out sick or whatever.

From what Jeannie (his boss) told me, Paul has bleeding in the brain but in the past 24 hours his vitals are better but he is still in a coma.

7. In high school, and for a year or so after . . .

a group of friends and I (all straight males) would spend our Friday nights trailing other folks that we KNEW were out "fag-bashing" (as they called it).

Somehow, every time they thought they'd found their target for the night, we showed up ready to either distract them or "dissuade" them through other means. We didn't do it every weekend, but I like to think we made a difference the times we did do it.

We called it basher-bashing :) (though rarely was there any bashing involved, when they realized there were 8 or 9 of us, and only 2 or 3 of them, they tended to vanish pretty quickly).

I have a dear friend who is hearing impaired and I've seen the way people treat you if you can't hear them. She even had a neighbor set fire to her condo for not answering the door when he came to ask for money. It could be gay bashing, but could also be deaf bashing, perhaps.

I hope he recovers and that these vermin are prosecuted and sent to jail for a very long time.

30. No news - Some other info

One thing that I did find out from his boss.

1. He was attacked early in the morning (4am ish) 12/18

2. He had been out with a friend of his that was visiting from NYC.

3. Around 4am, a guy he used to date showed up (or buzzed from down stairs ... I don't know the whole story) unexpected or he and Paul got into an argument.

4. Paul had went outside to talk to this guy that showed up.

5. When he didn't come back up, Paul's friend and I believe his current boyfriend went looking for him. They found him a couple of blocked beaten up.


From the last I spoke to his boss, the police were trying to locate the guy that showed up. I don't know if they located him.

I don't know if this guy had something to do with Paul's attack or not.

As far as I know, he is still in a coma. He has two broken wrist, which will make it very hard for him to communicate when he comes out of the coma.

Paul's boss will let me know if anything changes.
