Year Of Benedict Produces Widespread Gay Bashing By Church
(Vatican City) In two weeks Pope Benedict XVI will observe the first anniversary of his pontificate, a reign that has so far continued the rabid opposition to same-sex unions exercised by his predecessor, produced a directive banning gays from entering the priesthood and a call to prevent gays from adopting children.

Born Joseph Alois Ratzinger, he was elected pope on April 19, 2005 following the death on April 2 of Pope John Paul II.

Six weeks after he became pope, Benedict made his first public statement on same-sex marriage.

Calling same-sex unions "pseudo-matrimony" the pope said: "The various forms of the dissolution of matrimony today, like free unions, trial marriages and going up to pseudo-matrimonies by people of the same sex, are rather expressions of an anarchic freedom that wrongly passes for true freedom of man."

4. The Pope doth protest too much, methinks
The current Church's newly re-minted obsession with homosexuality reeks of self-"something"

7. Hhmmmmmm . . . a reading of what Pope Benedict XVI

Hhmmmmmm . . . a reading of what Pope Benedict XVI has been quoted as saying:

"The various forms of the dissolution of matrimony today, like free unions, trial marriages and going up to pseudo-matrimonies by people of the same sex, are rather expressions of an anarchic freedom that wrongly passes for true freedom of man."
    http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/04/040306pope.htm

means that the Pope, when using the words "anarchic freedom," is stating that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the Vermont Supreme Court and the Vermont legislature, and the various other states who have legalized civil unions, all are doing so without law or control, as well as operating their governments with "anarchy" and "anarchism."

This is serious. The Pope is inferring that he, not our governments, govern in a manner acceptable to the "true freedom of man." Since when does the Pope, who governs a theocracy, know squat about the "true freedom of man?" Or for that matter, any freedoms whatsoever? Perhaps, this pope requires a reminder of all the evil that his Church, its popes and other clergy have done in the name of Jesus Christ over the centuries?

8. This pope has declared all out war on us.
Edited on Tue Apr-04-06 06:00 AM by terrya
From same-sex marriage to wanting to purge the seminaries of gay priests (because, in his warped mind, all gay men are pedophiles. How to show the world you're "dealing with" the sex abuse crimes in the Catholic Church? Why, of course, removing all the gay priests! Problem solved!!), it's quite clear what his intentions are.

This bigot has declared war on gays and lesbians. Don't delude yourselves otherwise.

11. And it's past time we declared war back
After all, this is a Church with a history of criminal activity, which has used it's power to cover up some of the most offensive criminal behavior known in our society, and then sought to reclaim moral righteousness by paying off the victims and the government to avoid criminal prosecution. We should be reminding them outside every damned archdiocese in the country.

12. he KNOWS that gay men are not pedophiles.
but it's a ''truth'' that the church is trying to create in the minds of the public.

the problem with so many conservative leaders today is that they know one thing to be true -- but use the lie to manipulate the public into a corner where they want them.
