Idea: Selling anti-gay bumper stickers to raise money for pro-gay causes |
|
Edited on Sun Apr-30-06 03:19 PM by IanDB1
Selling anti-gay bumper stickers to raise money for pro-gay causes.
All money from the sale of the anti-gay stickers would go to pro-gay groups.
In addition, the mailing list of anti-gay people would be donated to progressive groups as part of a campaign to re-direct the energy of anti-gay people into more worthwhile endeavors.
For example: Imagine if you had a list of 10,000 anti-gay people who hate consensual sodomy. And then you gave that list to a Amnesty International, who solicited them for donations to fight sexual slavery where people are forced to have sodomy.
The idea would be to divert their time and money away from being anti-gay and into doing something positive or "Christian" instead.
Thoughts?
Of course, you could just issue a press release saying that some company selling anti-gay bumper stickers is already doing that... and then people will be paranoid about buying anti-gay bumper stickers.

1. One shouldn't profit off hate |
|
whatever the intentions might be.
You couldn't even make $100 from selling those 1000 anti-gay bumperstickers, and you'd still have 1000 bumperstickers out there. EVEN IF the ends justified the means, the margin of "profit" would just be too small

2. The stickers themselves would just be a means to an end... |

to obtain a mailing list of anti-gay bigots.
But I deffinitely see your point, and I think I see an easier/better way.
Set it up so that people enter their personal info into the order form, and press a button to continue to the next step...
but when they do, they get a "system error" of some sort.
In fact, you never intend to let them complete the order in the first place, just to capture their name, address, phone, email, etc (and NOT their credit card!)

It's a bad thing. "We" are supposed to be better than "them".

4. Not if you put in the privacy statement exactly what you're doing... |

in my opinion. For every hate sticker it makes it just that much more socially acceptable to display those views. Money isn't THAT important.

6. What if the anti-gay stickers were misspelled? |
|
For example, "Marrige = Man + Woman"
Then they'd be openly anti-gay and stupid.

8. Exactly. That's why it might end up on their car for weeks |
|
before someone points it out to them.
And then they'll probably just refuse to believe it.

10. I WANT to see anti-gay bumper stickers. |
|
I'd rather be able to identify my enemy clearly. Right now they have appropriated yellow ribbons and American flags to mean anti-gay. We have a right to those symbols, too. I would rather these people come out of hiding. They will face the ire of the majority when they do.

12. I kinda like this idea |
|
Very subversive
But could we sell bumperstickers like they have on whitehouse.org. You know, the way Stephen Colbert lampoons O'Lielly. Rethugs are notoriously irony-impared. It is what makes them so tiring.
