Write your Senators and Reps-Marriage Protection Amendment
Edited on Mon May-01-06 03:10 PM by dwickham
Focus on the Family is running a campaign to send postcards to the congress critters in support of the Marriage Protection Amendment before the vote in early June

We need to do the same-let the critters know that people care about this

DO NOT EMAIL THEM-SEND THEM A LETTER OR A POSTCARD

We need to let them know that we don't want the Constitution amended to enshrine hatred against us

1. Why don't they focus on their own damn family?
When dobson comes out for a constitutional amendment outlawing divorce I'll get onboard with his message. "Christians" are nothing but haters. The constitution is not a tool for haters, simple as that.

"CHRISTIANS" are the number one domestic enemy of our constitution today. Ignore your rights and they will go away.

2. Wouldn't a "Marriage Protection Amendment" protect the right to marry?
Just like a "Clear Skies Initiative" would protect clear skies, and a "Healthy Forests Initiative" would protect forests, and a "Deficit Reduction Act" would not in fact defecate on our common sense?

Hmmm, answered my own question.

Both Senators, Durbin and Obama, and my Representative, Janice Schakowsky, are doing the right thing and opposing this legislative hate crime.

Thank you for spreading the word, dwickham. This is going to come to a vote next month. We need to get mobilized.

4. Thanks, Dwickham.
I had already sent my Senators and my Congressman postcards.

But .... this energized me. I'm having a living room forum (get-together) for my local Democratic congressional candidate. I had been feeling tired, and feeling discouraged (I live in a red area in SoCal, north and inland of San Diego). No more! I'm re-energized just thinking about defeating those hatemongers.

7. called my R-thug tools - Burr and Dole and Foxx - played outraged
Republican (I actually have never changed my voter registration - even though I changed my mind and attitude many years ago - it also allows me to vote for the most off the wall candidates during primary season)

Asked if they thought we Repubs were so stupid as to see this as one more way to get elected without honoring their "conservative" principles of less gov't. Asked if they didn't have much more important things to work on like cleaning up the ethics and how they'd all been bought off by the lobbyists, and getting the defict down - this wasn't fiscal responsibility.

Told them it was as big an "attempted bribe" for votes as their stupid $100 gas rebate while they'd caused this problem by letting corporatations off the hook for taxes and put it on the backs of the voters - that we were pissed off and could see through their shell games - they weren't cutting taxes, they were simply shifting the burden - and if they didn't start paying attention to their base, no way in hell I was ever going to vote for a Repug in this lifetime (absolutely true!)

Also told one Sen's office we needed to keep the illegals to keep prices down, while telling the other one's office how we needed better border security and I couldn't believe they were waiting almost 5 years after 9/11 to finally start talking about keeping us safe! Figured it couldn't hurt for both of them to be at complete odds with each other.
