Israel Mulls Inheritance Rights For Same-Sex Couples

A government appointed commission on inheritance law reform is recommending allowing partners in same-sex relationships to be able to inherit each other's property without having to go to court.

Currently non married couples can will their property to a partner but few Israelis bother to make wills.

For seven years a commission headed by retired Supreme Court Justice Jacob Turkel has been exploring ways of making the transfer of property after death.

Included in the proposals was one recommendation that Israel allow video wills.

Especially in Tel Aviv.

I always wondered if this was a good argument for the Genetic theory. :)

And what struck me the most was how many stable relationships they have there. All my friends seemed to be couples.

If and when the Conservative Jewish movement OK`s Gay marriage maybe in September or December this year ,I hope it brings pressure on the Gov.to legalize Gay weddings.

Already there is a pending lawsuit with the Supreme court there,after quite a few couples including Gay Israeli lawmakers , wen`t across to Canada to get married and are now suing within Israel to get their marriages legalized.

Jerusalem is hosting World Pride this year in August...
