YAY Kansas, watch us move!
Hey all, I thought I would update since I am very excited.

News from the Kansas Equality Coalition

We now have officially recognized 6 chapters in our state (one has been transitional until our meeting today) and have a new chapter forming in North Central Kansas. In 8 months we have been able to establish these fine groups in our state.

Our legislative session is over. When we announced our organization in October last year it was announced by one of our more outspoken ministers in the state that he was going to take us down and planned on pushing through an adoption ban in Kansas. We funded a lobbyist, worked as hard as we could and it was never brought up in the session.

I am so proud to be a part of this organization and wanted to let you all know that we will work as hard as we can to continue to bring this state around so that all citizens in Kansas are equal.

5. Hardly! I love it.
It is my special thing you know, like a child that I helped to bring about. It is the best part of my life right now besides my family and critters. But thank you. It never hurts to hear something like that but to me it is just a fit. Often inspiring, sometimes fun, a few headaches but one of the most worthwhile things I can think of to be involved in. :)

9. I second the notion that you deserve an award
I can only begin to imagine how hard it must be to lobby on behalf of gay rights in Kansas. North Carolina is no picnic but we aren't quite at your level. You have done an amazing job, more than I would imagine 90%+ of gays and lesbians. Thanks for all you do.

11. I am tiny
and doing this because I love it and the people I am working with and supporting the fight. I am only the tiniest part, believe me, I am tiny but proud.

We, as a whole, are begin effective. For me I am pleased that for once we were able to be proactive, we were tired of having our chains jerked and having to be defensive. It just shows that getting in front of an issue instead of giving them a head start you can do it. We started on the issue right after we heard about it, before they were even ready.

Funny thing, Kansas really isn't that bad. With education people come around pretty easily but there are a lot of them and it has been difficult to get to them. Now, with the chapters located where they are we have a much easier time of that.

10. Congrats!
Good to see a ray of sunshine in an ordinarily dark corner of America, where gay rights are concerned.
