Australian PM On Hotseat Over Gay Marriage
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/05/052306howard.htm

Australian Prime Minister John Howard wanted to discuss international affairs when he agreed to speak to students at Dublin University. What he got was a grilling on same-sex marriage.

During a question and answer session with students Howard was asked why his Liberal government had passed a law barring gay marriage and has steadfastly refused to consider civil unions.

In 2004 the Australian government passed legislation defining marriage as between a man and a woman.

One student challenged the Prime Minister to defend what the young man described as Howard's attempt to entrench homophobia in Australia.

1. I hope Howard was still experiencing jet lag from his Canadian visit.
