I am damn well tired!
I am damn well tired of having straight people with all the rights they were born with telling me I cannot marry the person I love because she is of the same sex, all the while they themselves are the ones who have turned marriage into a mockery.

I am damn well tired of having straight people who work in the Australian government not including my right to be counted in the census, all the while having their own voices counted as citizens of this country.

I am damn well tired of straight people telling me I do not have the right to visit my partner in hospital without the direct permission of her blood family (no this wouldn't happen to me, but it does to many of us) all the while having the right to visit their partner in hospital without permission from the blood family.

I am damn well tired of straight people telling me I cannot live in my partners country because she does not have the right to sponsor me, all the while being able to sponsor their mail order bride with in a heart beat.

I am damn well tired of straight people telling me that pride parade is nothing but a perv day run by a bunch of pervs, all the while they are visiting the local hooters or strip joint for a good old fashioned perv.

I am damn well tired of having straight people telling me that now is not the right time for my rights, all the while they themselves not willing to lose any of the rights they enjoy but deny me.

I am damn well tired of having straight people telling me I am not normal because homosexuality is an abomination in the bible, all this while sitting down to a lovely shell fish dinner.

I am damn well tired of hearing straight people say fag, fagot, poofter, dyke, lezzo, muff muncher, pillow biter, etc, etc, etc, yet get their nose out of joint when they are called breeder.

I am damn well tired of having a government who doesn't count me as a citizen, yet enjoys spending my tax dollars they didn't have to work for.

I am damn well tired of straight people telling me I need to get a power of attorney, etc, on top of a will, just so my partners and my wishes can be fulfilled (hopefully) while all they need is a piece paper called a marriage certificate on top of their will.

I am damn well tired of straight people telling me I cannot put my partner on my health insurance because we are same sex, while they have their partner and kids on theirs.

I am damn well tired of straight people telling me I would have to testify against my partner if ever needed, while they enjoy spousal privilege.

I am damn well tired of my coworker telling me I have to come to work while my partner is sick because she is of the same sex, while they can take care of theirs.

I am damn well tired of straight people enjoying the benefits of their husband/wife pension, while my partner cannot enjoy mine because we are of the same sex.

I am damn well tired of straight people being able to spend their final years together in a nursing home, yet unless my partner and I seek out an LGBTIQQ friendly nursing home we would not have the same privilege.

I am damn well tired of straight people telling me I would have to pay taxes of my partners 401 or IRA because we are of same sex, while they enjoy yet another tax break.

But most of all I am damn well tired of straight people who are so called lefties/progressives telling me all of the above after having milked me for my vote and money.

What are you damn well tired of?

2. I think you've done an excellent job F.C. summing up my frustrations.
I'm also particularly pissed off at all of these gay linguists who speak Arabic getting kicked out of the military.
They desperately need these people in the war on terra, and yet they throw 'em away.

I just read about a woman who tried to sign up for the National Guard and was rejected because she is a Lesbian....she's in great shape, can run 5 miles easily, is completely qualified......but NO. :banghead:

I've posted a lot about this issue because it has me on the verge of needing therapy because I'm so angry. :)

And then I just posted something about a push to re-label homosexuality as a mental illness. :wtf:

Damn tired of a lot of stuff mate! Excellent rant.

But you know, nobody ever said liberation was going to be easy.

4. cboy....
...I forgot about DADT. I am so sorry. That is one of my big peeves as well. Not because I want to serve in the U.S. military (Australia allows gays/lesbians to serve) but because I know several lesbians who are either still in the U.S. Navy and hiding a part of themselves to remain, or talked and are out of the service now.

They never said liberation would be this hard too! ;)

3. I think you have it pretty well covered!
But I would like to add my own personal "tired of":

I am furious that my partner's 91 year old father continues to support the most vile repug candidates while my partner, our daughter & I are the ones who do his yard work, cook his meals, wash his clothes, do his shopping, maintain his car, perform handygal work on the house...

The hypocrisy of this man is astounding :(

7. Oh God!!!!
I feel so sorry for both you and your partner being in that situation.

It truly pisses me off when a father/mother cannot support their kid because the kid is gay, yet expects the kid to be at their every beck and call.

My old man disowned me years ago (after I came out) and I just hope the old bastard never tries to contact me after his wife (my step mother) kicks off (she is in worse health than he) expecting me to look after him, because I would hate to have to lower my standard to his and tell him to fuck off, but I know I would do it.

14. not to be callous
but tell your partner and/or her father that you're not going to be his slave any longer

you're allowing yourselves to be used by this man-stand up and let your voice be heard

6. If I could add to the list
It would be something like; I am damn well tired of the failure of the Democratic Party to frame
the argument in civil rights terms.

The issue at it's core is one of Civil Rights.
We as Dems seem to have very little power against the fear factor.
Somehow in the recesses of the 'average American mind' the 'Gay Rights'
issues offers a threat to straight blue collar Americans.

Never mind the bible thumping "lets end separation of church and state" bunch as they do not represent an overwhelming
majority.

I would concentrate on two messages from the democrat bully, wooly, natural fibers pulpit:

1-' The anti gay politics of the Republican Party is hate mongering.' That's the number one talking point. It's not a talking point for
some of the Dem's but all. Can democrats all get together on talking points like the evil doers, our opponents, do?

2- If you support Republican gay hate mongering then you support the right of government to do the same thing to you.

Just some early am thoughts. I have to work an extra saturday shift and I am well,
tired.
Cheers!

9. I wish that too, my friend!
And maybe, just maybe the tied with in the party might be turning after the events in the party earlier this past week.

Try and enjoy your Saturday at work. I sympathize with you. My Saturday is almost over (currently 11:21pm Saturday here) and I did work today, and am working again tomorrow.

10. YES!!!!
As I was writing it, I kept thinking I have to add the LCR's and moderate lefty queers who do the same, and I forgot!!!

What is wrong with them? Well they say money is the route of all evil, and well, they seem to sell their soul for a little of the green stuff (and we ain't talking weed either.)

I would add I am tired of being able to be fired from my job for being gay while I gay business owners get can't fire conservative religious employees due to them being a protected class.

15. Can't edit
but in readable English and not hurried crap, I would add I am tired of being able to be fired for being gay while gay business owners can't fire conservative religious employees due to the employees being in a protected class. I was clearly rushing way to much when I posted the first time.

22. Wow!
I didn't even know you'd posted this. Well done! :applause:

What would I add?

LGBTs who don't vote, won't concern themselves with even the most basic points of politics, and don't know or care who represents them in Washington, yet wonder why we're getting such a raw deal.

LGBTs who do have a clue about why we're getting such a raw deal, yet are so apathetic and/or self-absorbed they expect the rest of us to do the dirty work for them.

Straights who think they're being "tolerant" when they say they don't care what I do behind closed doors, as long as I don't flaunt it in public, while they see no problem with holding their MOTOS partner's hand in public, and wouldn't think of getting married without printing a wedding announcement in the newspaper.

Straights who think that starting with the disclaimer, "Some of my best friends are gay" is going to soften the sting of whatever criticism they're about to make re LGBTs.

Members of other minorities who won't stand by us, no matter how steadfastly we've stood by them.

Democrats who dismiss our anger toward the party with, "Where else are you going to go? The Greens?"

Straights who tell us we haven't got things so bad, and should be grateful we're not thrown in jail just for being gay.

Straights who chide us for our public displays of "lewdness" while turning a blind eye to Mardi Gras, Spring Break, and "Girls Gone Wild" videos.

Straights who lecture us on the sanctity of marriage, while they're on their second, or third, or fourth...

"Christians" who boycott Ford for marketing to LGBTs, but never once thought of protesting such marriage-mockery shows as "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire?" and "My Big, Fat, Obnoxious Fiancee."

Oh, there's more -- so much more -- but this is the best I can do before my first cup of coffee.

23. tired of people thinking they aren't homophobic
because they believe they aren't. Tired of pointing out evidence to the contrary and being called crazy. On the other side of that coin, tired of the shame and lack of self-respect I feel when I don't point it out and start the whole cycle all over again, because I feel like I just can't get hit with a tidal wave of anger from that person because I put a dent in their self-image by daring to say out loud that I feel insulted by something they did or said. Tired of carrying this same rage around in me for three months because I'm afraid that if I even try to articulate to a certain person how upset I am by their words I will lose control and the end result will be that I will do damage to myself because they will retaliate though mutal friends. So, so very tired.

25. Oh that isn't a good position to be in!!!
I will tell you something, if said mutual friends abandon you for standing up for your very right, then said mutual friends should have never been classed as friends in the first place.

What makes a friend is someone that will stand by you no matter what you do in your bedroom, and not take shit being spewed about you by others, no matter who the person spewing it is. People like that are hard to find, but when you find then, you will have true friends for life.
