Police Psych Linked To Anti-Gay Group

(Minneapolis, Minnesota) Minneapolis interim police chief Tim Dolan has ordered an inquiry into the use by his force of a psychologist tied to a group that opposes LGBT civil rights, gay marriage and endorses the so-called ex-gay movement.

Michael A. Campion has been used by the police department for more than a year to screen prospective police officers. Campion also has worked for departments in more than 100 cities over the past 30 years. He is based in Champaign, Illinois.

His involvement with the Illinois Family Institute was brought to Dolan's attention at a meeting last week with the Police Community Relations Council when it was learned that Campion had made negative comments about single parents.

GOOD! This asshole has no business doing background checks on prospective city employees if he's a bigot who disqualifies those who don't meet his moral standards.

There's no telling how many people he's ruined. Bastard.

"Does this mean that any person with a Christian or moral belief system cannot work for the city of Minneapolis?" said David Smith (Family Institute). "This case has all the markings of blatant anti-Christian discrimination and bigotry. People of faith should follow it carefully, because they could be next."

Oh boo-fucking-hoo mister! Yea, you're so persecuted

notice the linkage here:"Does this mean that any person with a Christian or moral belief system cannot work for the city of Minneapolis?" said David Smith (Family Institute). "This case has all the markings of blatant anti-Christian discrimination and bigotry. People of faith should follow it carefully, because they could be next."

only ''people of faith'' can be ''moral''.

with christians becoming fractionalised -- liberals from conservatives -- conservatives becoming more rabid.

they have to energies conservatives to activism -- hence the war on Christmas, christians, easter, moral people...
this is a list they can use endlessly.

2. I get sooooo tired of hearing about the persecuted Christians
in America. These people should actually go to counties where people really are persecuted for their religious beliefs so that maybe they could get a fucking clue. It is insulting to one's intelligence whenever they start pitching the persecuted Christian line.

7. They don't want to GO to such countries. They want to RUN them.
And make certain that their brand of snake oil is the only product on the market, or else.

3. Oh this is good....the press release from the Illinois Family Institute
http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=71436

<snip> "I have known Mike Campion for years, and he is a man of great Christian integrity and character," said Peter LaBarbera, IFI's policy & media advisor. "Mike is a fair and decent man, respected by his peers, who honors the ethical standards of his profession. Now he is being smeared by pro-homosexual activists.
The message is growing across our nation: Christians are the only group that can be discriminated against -- especially if they live out their faith in the public square." :spray: AH HAHAHAHA Whatever lady. Good one!

4. What bothers me more...
...is the fact that he's been in this position for a year already. So what, the police don't know how to run background checks? How is it that this fascist bastard is hired to evaluate police candidates in the first place without someone in the police checking out his credentials beforehand?

I believe that the chief needs to look deeper into his own department rather than just this guy.

5. Yes David Smith, people of faith should follow it carefully ...
because after you finish discriminating against gays, blacks and anyone else you don't like, you will be the only ones left.

6. We have to be really careful with this
Mere private bigotry can't be a disqualification for him. I do think it is problematic that he is professionally involved with these organizations. I still think it may need to be shown he is actually discriminating on the job but this is a much closer call.

8. Yes, I will be curious to see how many complaints from gay and lesbian
people might come pouring in now that his name is out.

It's hard to imagine a person like him, with his association and purported beliefs, would want a homosexual serving as a police officer (they're bad role models, they'd be around children, they could be blackmailed....all of the nasty excuses people have).

It doesn't seem completely logical for him to be completely anti-gay-hire because most large law enforcement agencies, as you know, actively recruit us.

Anyway......we shall see.

9. I admit it is hard to see him being completely objective
but as a teacher I have to be fair in my grading even if I think the recipient is a jackass. I think I do that well.
