Madrid restaurant refuses wedding reception to gay couple

Madrid City Hall has ordered an investigation into a restaurant in the city which has refused to hold a wedding reception for a gay couple who are due to marry this month. The restaurant gives the reason as ‘company policy.’

The couple, who have been together for 14 years, say the restaurant had been delaying giving them an estimate and finally told them very politely that certain tensions meant it would be better not to hold it there. The couple decided not to take legal action against the restaurant.

1. Well, THEY certainly don't know what they're missing . . .

One of the BEST times I've ever had was the wedding reception of my friend and his SO. A beautiful restaurant in Greenwich Village, with a superb skylight, a brunch to beat all others (a caveat on the invitation said the meal wouldn't be "kosher" -- the service of bacon, ham, and sausages made that clear). Great music, touching toasts by relatives and friends. The Spanish restaurant likely lost a bundle in tips and commissions as well as the staff having the best day of work.

Oh well . . . .
