Next time someone tells you homosexuality is unnatural, give them this
along with your middle finger (do the middle finger part for me, please.)

I wanted to wish everyone a good morning with a bit of news I came across that confirms what I have witnessed even in my own backyard with wildlife. Now, there is documentation and proof. From now on, when right wing zealots say that unnatural and agaist nature crap, we can stick this article in their faces and tell them to talk to the finger, the middle one.

Birds and bees may be gay: museum exhibition

By Alister Doyle, Environment Correspondent Thu Oct 12, 8:46 AM ET

OSLO (Reuters) - The birds and the bees may be gay, according to the world's first museum exhibition about homosexuality among animals.

With documentation of gay or lesbian behavior among giraffes, penguins, parrots, beetles, whales and dozens of other creatures, the Oslo Natural History Museum concludes human homosexuality cannot be viewed as "unnatural."

"We may have opinions on a lot of things, but one thing is clear -- homosexuality is found throughout the animal kingdom, it is not against nature," an exhibit statement said.

Geir Soeli, the project leader of the exhibition entitled "Against Nature," told Reuters: "Homosexuality has been observed for more than 1,500 animal species, and is well documented for 500 of them."

The museum said the exhibition, opening on Thursday despite condemnation from some Christians, was the first in the world on the subject. Soeli said a Dutch zoo had once organised tours to view homosexual couples among the animals.

"The sexual urge is strong in all animals. ... It's a part of life, it's fun to have sex," Soeli said of the reasons for homosexuality or bisexuality among animals.

One exhibit shows two stuffed female swans on a nest -- birds sometimes raise young in homosexual couples, either after a female has forsaken a male mate or donated an egg to a pair of males.

One photograph shows two giant erect penises flailing above the water as two male right whales rub together. Another shows a male giraffe mounting another for sex, another describes homosexuality among beetles.

1. "opening on Thursday despite condemnation from Christians,"
And that is where you get in trouble with fundamentalist Christians at. Of course anything that has any logic or rational to it will get one into trouble with them. But they will start making their wild claims that this is what the militant homosexual agenda is all about, reducing us to the level of animals, not raising us to the magnificence's that G-d intended us to be.

At some point liberals are just going to have to face that fact that when it comes to fundamentalist you can not engage them with reason. They simply have to be contained and their inane ideology cannot be allowed to be forced on the rest of us by law.

6. So true.
The minute you introduce logic into the conversation, fundamentalists turn all beet red in the face and start spouting nonsense. No logic will ever penetrate their force field of baloney, unfortunately.

honest I am. Are you suggesting that I attempt to do karaoke as the Village People? LMAO Trust me, if I did it would be more like Comedy Central night. Although...it would be worth it to see the look on a fundies's face if one snuck in the crowd.

20. It'll be entertaining
alright. I think I'll make it into a fundraiser for openly gay and lesbian Democratic politicians and earn back my militant badge. And I'll bring along my 2 gay male cats to howl as back-up singers. I might even throw in a hard hat and some Bob Fosse moves and call it 'The "Crime Against Nature" Chorus Line.'

LOL You've got to let me know when the show runs, this is one I wouldn't want to miss. We need a whole lot more of really irreverent things like this going on. The fundies would absolutely stroke, which is good for the environment. :toast:

If fundies are considered any "level of magnificence" I'll gladly take my place among the "lower animals".

4. "Biological Exuberance"
is the name of a great book on this topic. It details the many scientific papers that give evidence for "gayness" in animals. It also discusses the presence of homophobia in science (focusing on biology) and possible reasons for animals to be "gay".

Check it out.

Hopefully, I'll be able to find it. I sure wish that intralibrary loan our local library has included a few blue states. I'll have to search for it. Thanks for the info. :hi:

agenda, trying to convert as many children as possible.

That's all you gays think about.

I've been doing the "middle finger" part for years. I'm happy to add on a new item to the agenda, if you think it'll work.

12. It probably won't work, but there is a big chance that
200 years from now, we'll be hailed as "ahead of our time" in the evolution of the brain department. They'll see us as the first to evolve. It'll be great. Too bad we won't get to see it. I'll take posthumous recognition though. Good enough.

15. I'm not surprised. I had bisexual male parakeets.
I bred parakeets and zebra finches when I was in HS. I had six breeder parakeets in a huge flight cage. Male & female parakeets are monogamous in breeding. All of the male/female pairs where very devoted to each other and never cheated on each other with a bird of the opposite sex. However, two of my males would also "mate" with each other, preen and feed each other. Basically, all of the behavior that male/female parakeets do with each other. These males were devoted to their females, babies (and even my pet cockatiel that never quite matured :eyes:). However, they also definitely were devoted to each other.
