"I almost feel sorry for gay Republicans these days."
:wtf: That's a good one!

http://blogs.chron.com/bluebayou/2006/10/no_port_in_a_storm_for_gay_rep.html

"First, there's their ongoing problem of being part of a political party whose official platform says that their desire to have jobs and pay taxes and buy houses and go shopping like everybody else is a threat to our way of life.

"There's not much sympathy for them from those of us who are gay non-Republicans...")

BWAHAHAHAHA, ya think?!?!?

I know I don't have a single ounce of sympathy for gay Republicans. ZERO.

1. Me either.
Neither do I have sympathy for black republicans and poor republicans. They can all go to their hell together, hand in filthy hand.

5. We'd like you to turn your membership badge at the security desk, please.
And if you could mail us back your copy of the homosexual agenda, that would be great, thanks.

Yep, screw 'em. Thanks for all the lack of progress you've made, Gay Republicans. We appreciate it...not.

11. Yes, thanks for reminding me.
For turning in your membership badge because you're a gay republican, you get .03 cents and a hard kick in the seat of the pants with a steel-toed work boot. Ready?

4. There is no such thing as a gay republican.
There are only gay people with authoritarian personality disorder.

6. I will present a contrarian position that I feel is logical but...
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 01:14 PM by LoZoccolo
...could get me seriously beat up (actually I should admit that it has gotten me beat up, figuratively). But I'd like you to think about it. I'd like to preface it with the disclosure that because I'm not gay, I could probably never know quite what it's like to have the Republican Party doing what it's doing. But take the other side of that: because of that, I may look at it with more cool logic. I tend to look at a lot of political things from a naive game-theory perspective and that's why my opinions on strategy tend to run counter to those who are passionate enough about politics to spend a lot of time on an Internet message board.

A long time ago I said that the Log Cabin Republicans might be the smartest gay rights activists because it may be easier to get their party to change their stance on a few issues (and thus make gay rights a non-issue) than to try to join the Democrats and convince people to change their stance on an entire slate of issues on everything else (economy, foreign policy, environment, etcetera).

Think about that for a minute or two. I'm not trying to make them look good because they are still Republicans after all, I'm just saying that they may be smarter than you would originally think. I see no harm in making an observation about how a group approaches their strategy so if anyone is going to rake me over the coals I'd be curious to hear about why they'd think me making this observation is harmful to discuss amongst people like-minded along the political spectrum.

9. With all due respect, they are actually the DUMBEST gay rights
activists because they align themselves with a party that seeks to humiliate, suppress, ridicule and destroy them...

The Repukes only use for gay people is so they can ridiculously try to argue, "See, we have an big tent!"

8. My cousin was a gay Republican...
then one day he realized that made no sense at all. He is now a Democrat and voted for Gore in 2000. His dad has disowned him, not because he is gay, but because he switched to 'Democrat'.

17. They chose to be Rethuglicans
If they feel less then welcome hanging with that crowd they have options, but whining about it is not one of them as far as I'm concerned. To say that I have no sympathy for them is putting it very mildly.

18. There once was a time, long ago...
when the Democrat party was the backwards party and the Republican party was the progressive party. Have the roles switched? Yes, to an extent. However, maybe these gay Republicans like some of the socio-economic platforms of the Republican party or something like that. Don't bash them for being misguided.

19. Misguided? Ahh, no.
I don't see gays working to deprive other gays of their civil rights as "misguided". I see them as the enemy.

20. I know a few gay Republicans
They are misguided. They need to have someone point out the follies of their ways. To treat them with utter hostility will only end in more division and anger. If they don't listen, then that's different.

21. I’m not sure what to do with that.
Sounds like you are talking about habitual spitwad flickers or at worst a couple of 12-year-olds who have been experimenting with ciggies.

I give gay Rethugs a little more credit than you do in that I think that they are intelligent and aware enough to understand the consequences of their choices. They know what they doing and what they are supporting and for whatever reason they are okay with it.

If you are able to turn these folks around simply by pointing out to them “the follies of their ways” then you probably walk on water as well and this could pose a serious challenge to my atheism.
