Conservatives Attack Wal-Mart for Backing Homosexual Agenda |
|
(CNSNews.com) - Wal-Mart, already battered by the left-wing, is now coming under pressure from the right. While union-backed groups accuse Wal-Mart of supporting a "right-wing agenda," a conservative activist group now accuses Wal-Mart of supporting the homosexual agenda. The American Family Association is reminding its supporters that Wal-Mart recently joined the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. AFA says Wal-Mart plans to give "two large grants" to the NGLCC -- and it also plans to give domestic-partnership benefits to homosexual employees' partners. http://www.cnsnews.com/news/viewstory.asp?Page=/Politics/archive/200610/POL20061024a.htmlMakes me almost wanna buy some shit at Walmart to piss these people off.

1. Wal-Mart should just tell the American Family Assn. to shut up. |
|
In fact, all companies who are threatened by boycotts from the religious right should tell them to shove it. Ford and Procter & Gamble have survived boycotts by ignoring them. I've never understood why the AFA and its ilk are so fixated on gays as a threat. They never complain about violent toys, gun sales, or food with chemicals in it.

I'm tempted to go buy stuff at Wal-mart, copy the receipt, and send it to some neocons telling them that just for them I started shopping at Wal-mart again.
I'd also be sure to tell Wal-mart I resumed shopping there because of their new policies.

4. About this homosexual agenda they keep babbling about... |
|
I have a number of gay friends, and each one that I've asked has no idea what this "agenda" is, either. They are too busy earning a living paying bills, and living their everyday lives to have an "agenda" any different than the rest of us.
Some have adopted children, some have their biological children, and all of them face the same problems of getting up and going to work, grocery shopping, housekeeping, and the other things that consume our daily lives.
One couple I know will be busy next week taking their adopted son Trick or Treating, then planning their Thanksgiving meal, and starting to plan for Christmas. They have no "agenda" that I can see, other than the agenda we all have, of living our lives day by day, and doing the best we can.
It's pathetic that the right-wingers are so insecure that they must attack anyone who has a different life style than them, and denounce people who don't live up to their moral code. A moral code is something that each person must strive for, but cannot impose on others.
I sometimes wonder how the venom these people carry within them doesn't poison them, and put them out of their misery. If they didn't hurt others so much, I could feel sorry for them. But they do cause others pain, so they have no sympathy from me.

When homosexuals ask to be allowed to live the same life everyone else leads and have the same rights everyone else has that is an "agenda".
When fundies demand they have more rights than anyone else that's a normal part of living in a Christian Nation. :sarcasm:

Excellent example. Strangely enough, it also happens to be a progressive agenda, regardless of sexual orientation, race, age,or anything else.

15. Wal-mart's a whore - it only cares about the bottom line |
|
They must feel that this stance will be more profitable - they also know the "religiously whacked" have extremely short memories when it comes to those they worship and sloppy memories for those they hate.

I remember awhile back going into a local Walmart and asking if they carried either a K.D. Lang or Melissa Etheridge cd and was told they don't carry gay material or something like that because they were a family-orientated store. Well let's see, I have a family and may have decided to have a family of my own through artificial insemination...but some how my request was just was too alarming to even consider. And what did this have to do with buying something there? Were they afraid hordes of gay men and lesbians would be flooding their stores trying to buy things -- they should be so lucky. Or maybe if they carry gay material like music, etc. it might somehow "convert" straight shoppers simply by touching the items? LOL I also had a similar experience, at the time, with a BlockBuster store over a lesbian movie.
I don't know if was the policy of all the Walmart stores or just this owner, but I was surprised that it would even be an issue. And what is it with the AFA and their hatred toward gays people? They are so concerned, I assume, with families, but this is how they treat people?

Edited on Thu Oct-26-06 03:14 PM by dwickham
because my local sporting goods store didn't have them and my local bike shop wanted to charge an arm and a leg
I emailed Wal-Mart and told them why I chose them over other stores-the gay issue
received a very nice response
