Dobson to Aid in Counseling Haggard

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Focus on the Family founder James Dobson will be one of the people overseeing counseling for the Rev. Ted Haggard, the evangelical pastor who was fired amid allegations of gay sex and drug use, a senior official of Dobson's organization said Monday.

The counseling process, called restoration, could take years, said H.B. London, vice president for church and clergy at Focus on the Family, a Colorado Springs-based ministry.

5. Seriously though, Haggard is swimming in the KoolAid
"Those men will perform a thorough analysis of my mental, spiritual, emotional and physical life. They will guide me through a program with the goal of healing and restoration for my life, my marriage and my family," Haggard wrote.

Scare-eee!

13. Oh I so don't deal with that shit.
They'd have to be just hookups.

Honestly, though I've always been tempted to go to a meeting just to see what the hell they talk about though.

9. All this rehabilitation therapy... for the standard donation of...
$1.4 Million dollars per year (a made-up number); a small price to pay to have one's lucrative evangelical career restored to 'better than new'. No doubt, no effort will be spared; family comes first. (wink)

Given the recent spate of evangelical sex scandals, though, one wonders just what "family comes first" actually means to these people. Whatever it is, apparenly, they don't mind keeping it "all in the family"... I suppose that's just evidence they really like being "in the family way".

Somehow, it seems to me, the evangelism business is sort of incestuous and rather nepotistic. Aside from the apparent seediness (one small example: "send in your donation... you're 78 years old, have serious health problems, have no income and only have $10 left in the bank, no problem, send it in now--praise the L_rd, and don't worry, G_d will provide for and reward you..."), has anyone taken a good look at the "Televangelists", both men and women? Just an opinion, but they seem to be physical proof of inbreeding--and they're the ones they actually let on TV; imagine the ones not appealing enough to be on TV...

21. I was just going to say
It is a scam, because it "could take years" and, of course, each "counselling session" costs a lot of money. It sounds a lot like Scientology, doesn't it?
