A parents group is demanding that the Gay Lesbian and Straight Society at Berkmar High School in Gwinnett change its name because the mere mention of the word gay could incite violence at the suburban Atlanta school.

"I submit to you the name itself is very sexually explicit, provocative and inflammatory," the group's spokesperson Faye Caldwell told the school board.

"People have very strong opinions about homosexuality. . . . There could be a confrontation. We must protect the well-being of the students."

If there is the threat of a confrontation, it is the responsibility of the school to preserve discipline, and where that fails to take appropriate action against the instigators of any violence (and I will bet money that it's not the gays).
